.THE ROYAL FAM.
King Royceland, Queen Brizzalynn, and Prince Morzic (AKA Zebastian Dragonsoul)
Currently, the Faldain family are the ruling bloodline of the Kingdom of Valtmoor. The good natured King is truly beloved by the people, but many of the other ambitious noble families of Valtmoor see the current chaos engulfing the realm as a chance to further their own aims, and the Court is a hotbed for intrigue and power jockeying, with many whispering of outright war with King Nulgriff and his frozen forces on the horizon. Some doubt that the soft-hearted King Royceland would be the best leader if the conflict boils over into a continent-wide crusade. While not adept in the shrewd throat-slitting of courtly intrigue, King Royceland’s wife hails from the Nentallow family, and her wily bloodline supports the King fully, and will continue to do so as long as they have a vested interest in his continued reign.
.RADIMIR ZETCHKOVY.
Warped Oracle (Pronounced ZETCH-ko-VEE)
The official court Oracle of the King and Queen of Valtmoor is the crazed Trolloch Wizard known as Zetchkovy. The frazzled mystic is quite off putting, standing tall and willowy and staring out with mad, unblinking eyes. His knowledge of the arcane arts is unmatched, however, and his vivid visions of events yet to come have proven startlingly accurate on more than one occasion. His antics in Court are quite legendary, with most outsiders writing Radimir off as some frothing madman when they observe him for the first time, but between moments of outrageous behavior and prophetic rambling, the Trolloch’s moments of clarity often reveal invaluable wisdom, and he is never seen far from the King and Queen, acting as most trusted advisor to the royal family of Valtmoor.
.HAMFRED PROUDHELM.
Warmaster of Valtmoor
Boisterous and assertive, High Lord Hamfred is the military mind behind the kingdom of Valtmoor’s might. Gifted in inspiring troops, he is a Warmaster who prefers to lead from the front, bolstering his forces and leading them on towards legendary acts of heroism. Hamfred is Uncle to the Duchess Corynne Proudhelm, with whom he shares a strained relationship for reasons neither party is keen on disclosing. Unlike most of his family, Hamfred lacks the cautionary nature that has made the Proudhelm name famous. Indeed, he is quite hot tempered and easily goaded. That same fiery passion that can turn him into a force of reckless nature on the battlefield can also be used against him.
.CYCAST NENTALLOW.
Spymaster of Valtmoor, “The Eye”
The Nentallow family have proven to be resourceful, opportunistic, and cunning beyond measure, and the young Spymaster of the Kingdom is the politically adept younger brother of Queen Brizzalynn, Cycast Nentallow. His nickname of “The Eye” shares a dual meaning, referring to both his scarred left eye (gained through the completion of some sinister ‘family business’, no doubt) and his vast knowledge of every deep, dark secret in the kingdom. Cycast displays shocking cunning for someone so young, and his agents sift through the Kingdom like specters, whispering their found secrets to the shrewd, one eyed spider in the middle of the complex web of intrigue that is courtly politics.
.JOLLY JEMMY & MISTER PADDLES.
Fools of the Court
Castle life isn’t all politics and tax collecting, yaknow! Whenever the King needs a good laugh, he calls in the rather talented Court Jester, Jolly Jemmy and her magnificently intelligent mouse partner, Mister Paddles. The two have quite a sensational routine that is a hit with nobles and commoners alike, doing well to entertain and break up the mounting tension building throughout the Kingdom as King Nulgriff’s forces grow ever bolder. Jemmy takes particular interest in tormenting the hot tempered Warmaster Hamfred Proudhelm, targeting the no-nonsense warrior with a relentless string of elaborate pranks and unflattering imitations that she’d probably stop if he didn’t get so upset at them…
.LEPHERRO.
The Royal Announcer
Short in stature but giant in lung capacity, Lepherro is a staple of King Royceland’s court, dramatically announcing any and all who enter the hallowed presence of his majesty alongside a chorus of triumphant trumpeters. For whatever reason, the King cannot quite seem to remember Lepherro’s name, and most members of the court have a tendency to dismiss the poor little fella.
.EBBHART LONGBARROW.
Sheriff of Silverleer
Prone to speculation and conspiracy theory, the Sheriff of Silverleer is an excitable but good-natured fellow. He spends most of his day doing paperwork and putting his wax seal on official documents instead of living a life of action, and his waistline has suffered just a bit as a result. Born of common means and Serf blood, the Sheriff often times serves as the middle-ground between the haughty Nobility and the hard-working Serfs of the Duchy.
.SIR CHADWORTH.
Knight of the Realm, Best Swordsman in the Kingdom World
As arrogant and self-centered as he is handsome and dashing, Sir Chadworth’s valorous deeds are the stuff of legend throughout the kingdom of Valtmoor. A frequent winner of jousting tournaments held regularly at the castle, the studly Knight has one of the most famous (and symmetrical) faces in all of Creation, and a gaggle of screeching maidens seem to follow the sterling Knight wherever his greaves roam.
Man of the Cloth
Stern, passionate, and exceedingly well versed in scripture, Father Embryway is one of the strictest adherents to the faith that one could hope to come across. The Lepkin Priest is a mainstay in Silverleer, and leads the weekly Masses with his particularly fiery sermons. While some might write the good Father off as judgemental, overly self-righteous and sanctimonious, Father Embryway sincerely wants to save every soul he encounters, and lives up to every single lofty standard he sets for others in his own life. While Father Embryway has been offered the promotion of Bishop several times now, he has declined each invitation, preferring to tend to his flock in a far more personal capacity. The wily Priest can always be found in St. Byzantio’s Cathedral, should you need to stop in and confess a few dozen sins.
Ace Reporter
The Valtmoor Valiant is the paper of record for the Kingdom of the Valtborn, and its most inquisitive mind is the Serpae news reporter Taloo Sadat. She can always be found snooping around in search of the latest gossip and putting her keen investigatory instincts to the test. Personable and keen-eyed, the Serpae has put her natural love of extracting information to good use, forging a career out of her incredible snooping talents. You can read all of her latest stories and editorials in the latest edition of the Valiant, which can be found at newsstands far and wide.
Royal Executioner
With a knack for creative interrogation and a deceptively empathetic soul, the happy-go-lucky Royal Executioner of Silverleer is a walking contradiction. Always in chipper spirits despite his dire job, Baxter handles all matters of punishment, torture, and dungeon-related goings on in the city. While his grim job title would certainly bum out most folks, his good nature and cheerful spirit actually make him quite popular with the prisoners of Silverleer’s dungeons, and he often can be found giving rather useful life advice to the cell dwellers that he regularly tortures there. Go figure.
