Of all the locations in the world of FEUDALICIOUS!, the capital city of Silverleer is the embodiment of the spirit of the tone of the game. An homage to all things medieval and a hub of all manner of activity, the Kingdom of Valtmoor and its capital city are arguably the most important places in all of creation. In short, Silverleer offers it all: Scheming Nobles, politically savvy Clergy, cowering commoners and, of course, adventure. Since the brutal Frost Goblin campaign began and the Five Great Kingdoms of Bravehold banded together to form an uneasy resistance, Silverleer has acted as the de facto headquarters for this frantic alliance. Each and every day, five very different cultures mix and intermingle as war forces a series of strange alliances, and no place in all creation has become more interesting as a result!
The Old Parlish
The legendary Parlish River is the lifeblood of the city of Silverleer, and is one of the most famed landmarks in Valtmoor, offering clean, fresh water for the peasantry to not bathe in.
The Chalice Road
The main road that leads to Silverleer is the famed Chalice Road, and is well traveled and safely guarded to ensure a steady supply of both goods and travelers into Silverleer. Immaculately tended to and regularly patrolled, the Chalice Road is highly desirable to bandits everywhere, but too well defended and protected to suffer overtly from attack. Many claim that the patron God Valtus himself can regularly be seen in his sterling Silver Armor patrolling the length of the road personally.
Silverleer is divided into five distinct Wards, each serving their own unique purpose and having their own locations of interest peppered throughout. Below is a write up of the five Wards and some famous places located throughout.
CHALLERY LANE
A haven for the elite, Challery Lane even sounds posh. This Ward is heavily restricted and available only to Nobles and members of Noble households. As you might imagine, this Ward is the most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing in the entire city. Crammed with upper class shops and sprawling keeps and villas, “The Lane” is a place where the esteemed and blooded try to outdo each other in an endless loop of one upmanship and ostentatious competition.
Notable Locations
Castle Bravehold: Challery Lane is the home of the legendary Castle Bravehold, which houses the royal family and their vassals. Indomitable and sprawling, the Castle is an architectural marvel that proudly announces the piety and might of the Valtborn people.
FAIRWORD SQUARE
The largest district in Silverleer, Fairword Square bustles with trade and activity. Lined with shops and devoted almost entirely to trades and services, Fairword is aptly named, for each and every vendor there is in possession of a trusted reputation. What the goods here lack in lavish presentation they more than make up for with their sturdiness and quality. Most of the shopkeepers and tradesfolk that live in Fairword also live in their shops, so this Ward is the most densely populated in the city.
Notable Locations
Gabzy’s Closet: The downtrodden Trolloch (are there any other kind?) named Gabzy runs a popular general store in the center of Fairword Square, where she sells just a little bit of everything for the discerning adventurer. Her love of oddities and trinkets has earned her a reputation for paying good coin for awkward relics that would disgust most vendors.
VALTENBURG
Religion is of paramount importance to the Valtborn, and the holy Ward of Valtenburg radiates with reverence and quiet contemplation. A place of study, learning, and (of course) worship, Valtenburg acts as the spiritual hub of the city, and houses the Clergy of Silverleer.
Notable Locations
St. Byzantio’s Cathedral: This famed place of worship is dedicated to the hallowed Saint Byzantio, whose healing powers were so formidable that for the last 65 years of his life, not a single soul in the entire monastery where he studied medicine so much as got a cold. In fact, everyone was so healthy around him that the place went out of business entirely. The patron Saint of physical fitness, wellness and health, this Saint lived to the ripe old age of 306, when he was accidentally beheaded in a freak parasailing accident. Many claim that his head lived for another six months without a body before finally succumbing. The Cathedral built after him is a beautiful construct with majestic spires and dutiful hospitallers strolling its peaceful halls in quiet contemplation.
PUG TOWN
Unfortunately, any large city is going to have its bad neighborhood, and Pug Town is just about as crummy as it gets. Many describe Pug Town as a sewer that someone built, but forgot to put underground. This depiction is just a tad bit accurate, and the desperate denizens of this Ward cling to the shadows and watch with keen eyes for potential victims. Recently, a widespread epidemic of the Necromantic drug called Ectogasm has exploded in Pug Town, and this euphoric, ghostly goo is sold to any desperate souls who need a quick fix. What’s worse is, the Ectogasm epidemic is slowly oozing into other Wards of the city. Perhaps the most tragic detail of all about this Ward is that King Faldain was going to order a widespread rebuilding of the ward, but the Frost Goblin campaign suddenly demanded all the Kingdom’s spare attention (and money) to combat.
Notable Locations
The Leaky Wound Tavern: The atmosphere of this drinking establishment is about as welcoming as its name sounds. Seedy, dangerous, and filled with shady sorts, the Leaky Wound is famed for the litany of downright awful services bought and sold here, where anything from a night of grimy company to an assassin’s blade are all openly available for purchase.
THE GOLDEN SWAY
This is the only Ward that rests outside the impregnable castle walls that safely secure Silverleer from the ravages of the outside world. Aptly named, the Golden Sway is a massive stretch of miles and miles of farmland (many of which are dedicated to Wheat, hence the name). It is here that the majority of Serfs toil and make their living, working for the protection and occasional pat on the head from their lordly betters. The Golden Sway is, without a doubt, the most fertile stretch of farmland in all Creation, benefitting from obscenely pleasant springs and summers. The occasional Guard Tower stands tall every few acres to make the Serfs feel safe and protected, and King Faldain has decreed that even more be erected in light of the recent Frost Goblin campaign. Serfs see an increase in guard patrols and defensive activity and prepare for the worst…
Notable Locations
The Order of the Stone Weasel Chapter House: The Chapter House of the famed Order of the Stone Weasel is located amidst the sprawling farmlands and homesteads of the Golden Sway, and its banners hang high and proud, announcing the reformation of this mythical band of crusaders and do-gooders. Always touted as a Guild for the people, the Chapter House stood deserted for many generations as a noble reminder of this ancient order. With the Frost Goblin Campaign and the coming of Grandweasel, the Chapter House is once more flush with activity, much to the delight of the Serfs in the area.
